Recycling during Sustainability Week

Thursday September 17 was the recycling day of the UIC Sustainability Week. Lubia and Anders from the Office of Sustainability held presentations on each campus about recycling in Chicago in general, and about the UIC recycling system in particular. Engaged audiences participated by asking curious questions and by making suggestions on improving the UICycle system.

In conjunction with the presenations, the Office had also setup tables in the two students centers where recyclable items such as batteries and cellphones were accepted. All in all rougly twenty pound of batteries and thirty cellphones were collected and will subsequently be recycled!

The UIC community is ALWAYS welcome to recycle similar items (batteries, inkjet cartridges, and more) at either of the two campus MicroStations, located in the bookstores. To find out hours and specifically which items are accepted, visit the UICycle website!
