UIC's Annual Sustainability Report Available

UIC has been a part of the Sustainability Tracking and Rating System (STARS) pilot project, coordinated by the Association for Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).  UIC has used the data collected for this pilot study, along with additonal data, to produce UIC's first Annual Sustainability Report. It is available on our website in the Reports section.

STARS is

a voluntary, self‐reporting framework for recognizing and gauging relative progress toward sustainability for colleges and universities. It is designed to:

1. Provide a framework for understanding sustainability in all sectors of higher education.
2. Enable meaningful comparisons over time and across institutions using a common set of measurements developed with broad participation from the campus sustainability community.
3. Create incentives for continual improvement toward sustainability.
4. Facilitate information sharing about higher education sustainability practices and performance.
5. Build a stronger, more diverse campus sustainability community.
