The Truman Scholarship is a $30,000 award for graduate/professional study for students who want careers in public service at a leadership level. The foundation broadly defines public service; careers in public health, science research, policy, foreign affairs, government, advocacy, environmental issues, social service and other areas are all eligible.
What does the Truman Foundation seek in a scholar?
- leadership experience
- a record of public service
- grades that indicate the student will be competitive getting into the graduate/professional program of his/her choice
- a commitment to making a difference on specific issues as defined by the student
