UIC Truman Scholarship

Are you a graduate/professional study student with a life-changing sustainability project? You could be a great candidate for the UIC Truman Scholarship!

The Truman Scholarship is a $30,000 award for graduate/professional study for students who want careers in public service at a leadership level. The foundation broadly defines public service; careers in public health, science research, policy, foreign affairs, government, advocacy, environmental issues, social service and other areas are all eligible.

What does the Truman Foundation seek in a scholar?
  • leadership experience
  • a record of public service
  • grades that indicate the student will be competitive getting into the graduate/professional program of his/her choice
  • a commitment to making a difference on specific issues as defined by the student
Students apply during their junior year and must meet with Beth Powers, Office of Special Scholarship Programs director, first to request access to the application. To contact her to talk or if you have any more questions, please e-mail her at bpowers@uic.edu.
